The 12 Most Popular US Tourist Attractions

Most Popular US Tourist Attractions

There is no experience more demoralizing than that of feeling like a visitor in your own nation. But let's be honest: there's a good reason why the most visited tourist destinations in the United States are so popular! Everyone ought to go there at some point, and there is no better time than when a pandemic is preventing people from traveling to other countries.

No matter what your interests are, we have incredible artwork, historic buildings and monuments, neighborhoods that are an absolute must-see, unusual landmarks, and national parks that are absolutely breathtaking. For even more ideas on where to go on your next vacation, take a look at some of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States.

1. The Great Smoky Mountains, which are located in the state of Tennessee

The Great Smoky Mountains can be found on both the Tennessee and North Carolina sides of the state border. It is the largest park in terms of land area and boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, making it the most visited park overall.

Visitors have the opportunity to view hundreds of different species of birds within the park's two visitor centers, in addition to hiking through old-growth forests. In addition, there are trails that lead to waterfalls at Laurel Falls, and at Clingman's Dome, you can look out over the landscape.

The towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge both offer a wide variety of tourist attractions, in addition to the stunning natural beauty that can be found there. There are over forty attractions in Pigeon Forge that make this place the most popular tourist destination for families. Some of these attractions include fun-filled activities such as waterparks, mini-golf, and go-karts, while others focus on outdoor activities such as rafting, hiking in the mountains, and zip lines. Whereas Gatlinburg provides opportunities for visitors to enjoy nature, golf clubs, arcade shows, and dinner shows.

2. The National Mall in Washington, District of Columbia

The National Mall and Memorial Parks are kept in pristine condition by the National Park Service, which allows visitors to explore more than a thousand acres' worth of monuments, sites, and open space. The Washington Monument is the tallest structure in the entire city. There is nothing else that can compete with its height. Still, other memorials such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument all share the same level of awe-inspiring grandeur. Spending at least a day (or two) walking around the National Mall is highly recommended, but you should also make time to visit some of the best museums in the city.

3. The Niagara Falls, located in the state of New York

The combined flow rate and force of Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridalveil Falls on the United States-Canada border are the highest of any waterfall in the world. These three waterfalls are located on the border between the United States and Canada. Because of its unparalleled natural beauty and enchanting atmosphere, Niagara Falls has been a popular tourist destination ever since the 19th century.

4. The imposing Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore, which is located in South Dakota, is a national memorial and is widely considered to be one of the most recognizable landmarks in the United States. Mount Rushmore was constructed in the early part of the twentieth century, and it is notable for the sculpted and blasted stone faces of four former United States presidents.

Statues depicting historical figures such as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt can be found in the museum. It is possible to get a better view of the monument by going to the base of Mount Rushmore and walking along the Presidential Trail.

5. New Orleans' French Quarter is on the list.

Bourbon Street, New Orleans's oldest district, is home to some of the city's most endearing attractions, including a vibrant nightlife, excellent cuisine, and lively musical performances. Cajun cuisine and the Cities of the Dead are two things that should not be missed if you are going to be in the French Quarter. When you are riding a streetcar between different locations, you should pay careful attention to the buildings that you pass.

6. The beach of Venice in Los Angeles

A trip to Venice Beach cannot be considered complete unless it includes a detour through Los Angeles. Although the canals and beaches of Venice Beach are breathtaking, the Venice Beach Boardwalk is by far the most popular destination in the area. Passersby are given a pleasant experience by street performers, who amuse them by juggling, dancing, sculpting, and performing other acts; this is a real treat for the passersby.

Take a walk down the boardwalk and pick up some mementos, a refreshing drink, and some spare change along the way. Many patrons of live performances will leave a monetary token of their appreciation in the form of a tip of one to two dollars.

7. Little Havana in Miami

The destination that once served Cubans living in exile now serves both as a must-see destination and as a home for Cubans living in exile. While you're out and about, treat yourself to some live rhumba and salsa music and sip some Caribbean drinks with rum in them. You won't be able to stop thinking about the Cuban sandwiches, Colombian arepas, Mexican tacos, and other mouthwatering Latin American dishes that are available here.

Fisherman's Wharf got its name from the large number of merchants and fishermen who called the area home from the late 1800s to the early 20th century. Today, the area is known for its delicious food and picturesque views of the bay and its fleets of ships. When you get to the area, stop at one of the many restaurants and get a bowl of seafood chowder made with fresh crabmeat from the area. This should be done before you go to the specialty shops in the area.

8. Messa Verde

Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is home to a number of Ancestral Pueblo homes that have been preserved for future generations. Due to the fact that they are carved directly into caves and rock faces, the majority of these homes were constructed in the early 13th century.

By navigating your way around the cliffs that are above you, it is possible to get a good look at these ancient ruins. The Balcony House is notable for how well it has been preserved due to the fact that it has 40 rooms that can only be accessed by ladder. On the other side of the street is the even larger Cliff Palace, which is said to have had 150 original rooms and could have accommodated more than 100 people.

9. The Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Numerous space-themed attractions can be found at Cap Canaveral, which is found on the east coast of Florida. The Kennedy Space Center in Florida is a good example because it has been the home of all United States human space flights since 1968 and it still launches unmanned rockets today.

Visitors will be able to get a glimpse into the early days of space exploration and an understanding of the tension and excitement that surrounded the moon landing thanks to the museum. You can even take part in an experience that simulates a trip into space by taking part in something called the Shuttle Launch Experience.

10. J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles

A large number of tourist attractions, which place California among the top destinations in the world, entice travelers to come to California from all over the United States and the rest of the world. The world-famous architect Richard Meier was responsible for designing the contemporary pavilions made of travertine and white metal that are included in the one billion dollar facility. The collection is considered to be one of the most fascinating in the world because it contains works by artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, and others.

11. The Statue of Liberty, which can be found in New York

Despite her French ancestry, the Statue of Liberty has come to represent the United States of America and the ideals that are most dearly held by its citizens. You can see a copper monument that is 151 feet tall and is located on Staten Island from the Staten Island Ferry. However, you can get up close to the monument when you step inside the monument. It is possible for individuals to personally express their gratitude and respect by touring the facility.

12. Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful, located there

This geyser in Yellowstone National Park is not as predictable as it once was (for example, it does not erupt exactly every 74 minutes), but it has been a highlight ever since the park first opened in 1872. More than 3,700 gallons of scalding hot water are released into the environment whenever the geothermal feature explodes. After you have finished gawking at the show, you should devote the remainder of the day to discovering the rest of the park.

The bright lights, larger-than-life performers, and casinos of the Strip have been ingrained in our collective subconscious thanks to the ever-increasing number of movies that have been made to immortalize them. You can indulge in any form of entertainment or debauchery you desire on the Strip, whether you want to try your hand at poker or watch a diva perform.

Conclusion

It is one of the largest and most diverse countries in the world, boasting an incredible variety of tourist destinations ranging from the tall skyscrapers of New York and Chicago to the natural wonders of Yellowstone and Alaska, not to mention the beaches of California, Florida, and Hawaii. The United States of America is a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Even the smallest of its towns, such as Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, are home to a wide variety of tourist attractions that are sure to meet all of your requirements for a successful trip.

Alaska, My Love Letter

 Holland America Alaska

I'm collaborating with Holland America once more, this time for this post as well as other social media posts. However, as always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I, like many others, would like to visit all 50 states one day. Turns out, I'm almost done (just six more!) but the one I thought would be the last for me was Alaska. That all changed a few years ago, when Holland America, the premier name in Alaska cruising, invited me to join them on a truly remarkable voyage in America's last frontier. Cruising, like everyone else, has had a difficult couple of years, but the industry is roaring back, and this is especially true in Alaska.

Cruising in Alaska is, without a doubt, the best way to experience the state's thrills; a history that Holland America helped write. In celebration of their own love for Alaska, they're hosting an incredible contest that's both entertaining and simple to enter. Simply write your own love letter to Alaska, explaining why you adore it or why you want to visit. The best part is that the prizes aren't just cruises to Alaska; Holland America is giving away 10 voyages on a 2022 cruise to the Great Land in one of their incredible suites, including a grand prize Neptune Suite!

They've asked me to help them spread the word about my love for Alaska, so today I'd like to share my own love letter. To enter to win one of these incredible luxury cruises, simply visit the Love Letters to Alaska website and submit yours before the contest closes on March 15, 2022.

Ketchikan Alaska

Dear Alaska,

I know we've only met once, and even that was arranged, but I can't hide my feelings for you because I am madly in love with you.

Why do I adore you so much? For all of your incredible qualities, beginning with your enormous size. I know it's impolite to say so, but there's no other state that can compete with your girth. When Seward brokered that famous deal with Russia, he certainly knew what he was doing, because you are nearly a fifth the size of the Continental United States; you'll never have to worry about competition when it comes to how much space you have to wander around and explore. And what a place it is!

Your beauty captures the hearts and minds of so many because it is all around you; a type of constant pulchritude that is all encompassing and intoxicating at its best. It's so unusually perfect that I'm afraid one begins to take it for granted. "Yes, another glacier," or "Yes, another untouched forest that has no equal anywhere in the world," are some of the typical visitor's non-complaints. But you're more than a pretty face; you have a keen depth to your personality – your very soul.

To ensure that you get the most out of your trip, Holland America offers a variety of different itineraries to prospective cruisers, with each port of call offering activities that are unique and provide a fantastic view of life in Alaska. You have no shortage of ways to experience and enjoy the best of what you have to offer, whether it is touring glaciers, taking an old train through scenic mountain passes, soaring high above the trees on a floatplane, or learning about your fascinating recent history. There's so much to do that I can't imagine ever feeling like I've accomplished everything, and I love that.

I could write all day about how much I adore you and admire you, but I know how busy you are, especially with the summer cruise season rapidly approaching. But don't worry, my dear, because you and I will be reunited soon enough, as I am planning a return this summer to confirm what I already know: I am madly in love with you.

Until our next meeting,
