Alaska, My Love Letter

 Holland America Alaska

I'm collaborating with Holland America once more, this time for this post as well as other social media posts. However, as always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I, like many others, would like to visit all 50 states one day. Turns out, I'm almost done (just six more!) but the one I thought would be the last for me was Alaska. That all changed a few years ago, when Holland America, the premier name in Alaska cruising, invited me to join them on a truly remarkable voyage in America's last frontier. Cruising, like everyone else, has had a difficult couple of years, but the industry is roaring back, and this is especially true in Alaska.

Cruising in Alaska is, without a doubt, the best way to experience the state's thrills; a history that Holland America helped write. In celebration of their own love for Alaska, they're hosting an incredible contest that's both entertaining and simple to enter. Simply write your own love letter to Alaska, explaining why you adore it or why you want to visit. The best part is that the prizes aren't just cruises to Alaska; Holland America is giving away 10 voyages on a 2022 cruise to the Great Land in one of their incredible suites, including a grand prize Neptune Suite!

They've asked me to help them spread the word about my love for Alaska, so today I'd like to share my own love letter. To enter to win one of these incredible luxury cruises, simply visit the Love Letters to Alaska website and submit yours before the contest closes on March 15, 2022.

Ketchikan Alaska

Dear Alaska,

I know we've only met once, and even that was arranged, but I can't hide my feelings for you because I am madly in love with you.

Why do I adore you so much? For all of your incredible qualities, beginning with your enormous size. I know it's impolite to say so, but there's no other state that can compete with your girth. When Seward brokered that famous deal with Russia, he certainly knew what he was doing, because you are nearly a fifth the size of the Continental United States; you'll never have to worry about competition when it comes to how much space you have to wander around and explore. And what a place it is!

Your beauty captures the hearts and minds of so many because it is all around you; a type of constant pulchritude that is all encompassing and intoxicating at its best. It's so unusually perfect that I'm afraid one begins to take it for granted. "Yes, another glacier," or "Yes, another untouched forest that has no equal anywhere in the world," are some of the typical visitor's non-complaints. But you're more than a pretty face; you have a keen depth to your personality – your very soul.

To ensure that you get the most out of your trip, Holland America offers a variety of different itineraries to prospective cruisers, with each port of call offering activities that are unique and provide a fantastic view of life in Alaska. You have no shortage of ways to experience and enjoy the best of what you have to offer, whether it is touring glaciers, taking an old train through scenic mountain passes, soaring high above the trees on a floatplane, or learning about your fascinating recent history. There's so much to do that I can't imagine ever feeling like I've accomplished everything, and I love that.

I could write all day about how much I adore you and admire you, but I know how busy you are, especially with the summer cruise season rapidly approaching. But don't worry, my dear, because you and I will be reunited soon enough, as I am planning a return this summer to confirm what I already know: I am madly in love with you.

Until our next meeting,
